Privacy Policy

AltTab (SIRET: 10356400100016) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy covers everyone who uses AltTab, free or paid. It explains what data AltTab collects and how it is used.

What we collect

Almost nothing. The AltTab app is designed to work on your device, and it never asks for your name or email. What leaves your Mac is the update check described below, and a crash report if you choose to send one.

If you purchase AltTab Pro, we additionally store a small amount of account data to deliver and validate your license — see AltTab Pro accounts below.

Usage statistics

AltTab tracks usage data such as how many times you switch windows. This data is calculated and stored locally on your device only. It is never transmitted to us or any third party.

Crash reports

If the application crashes, you may be prompted to send a crash report. This is optional and requires your explicit consent each time. Crash reports are sent to Microsoft AppCenter and contain technical diagnostic information (crash logs, device model, macOS version, app version). They do not contain personal data such as your name, email, or window contents.

Update checks

AltTab periodically checks for updates using the Sparkle framework. The check sends technical data about the installation, such as the version you run and the kind of Mac and macOS it runs on. It carries no name, no email, and nothing tied to your identity.

Feedback

AltTab includes an optional feedback form. If you submit feedback, it is posted as a public issue on AltTab’s GitHub repository. Do not include personal information in your feedback unless you are comfortable with it being publicly visible. No account or email is required to submit feedback.

AltTab Pro accounts (paid users only)

If you purchase AltTab Pro, we create an account tied to the email address you used at checkout. This section does not apply to free users.

What we store. On our servers we store:

• Your email address and license key, so we can find your license and confirm it is yours.
• An identifier for each Mac you activate the license on, so the 3-Mac limit works.
• A reference to your purchase at our payment processor, so we can handle refunds, chargebacks, and receipts.

What we do not store. Your card number, full billing address, and other payment details never reach our servers — our payment processor collects and stores them directly.

Why we store it. To deliver your license key, validate that AltTab Pro is running on one of your activated Macs, process refunds and chargebacks, and let you manage your license yourself.

Where it is stored. On servers run by Cloudflare, our hosting provider. See Third-party services below for what that means.

License validation. When AltTab Pro is running, it periodically checks with our server that your license is still active on that Mac. No other personal data is sent.

My Account. You can sign in at alt-tab.app/my-account with a one-time link sent to your email address; signing in sets a session cookie. From your account you can view your license, deactivate a Mac, resend the license email, view receipts and invoices (via our payment processor’s billing portal), and request a refund.

Retention. License records are kept while your license is active. We keep a minimum history beyond that to handle refunds, chargebacks, and the tax and accounting obligations that apply to us.

Deletion. To delete your account data, email support@alt-tab.app. Note that deleting the record also deactivates AltTab Pro on every Mac tied to that license.

Third-party services

Applies to all users unless marked otherwise.

• Microsoft AppCenter (optional crash reports): subject to Microsoft’s privacy statement.
• Sparkle (update checks): connects to GitHub and our server. What the check sends is described under Update checks above.
• Cloudflare (hosting): serves the website and our backend. Subject to Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
• GitHub (feedback form): submitted feedback is posted as a public issue. Subject to GitHub’s privacy statement.

The following additional services are used only for AltTab Pro (paid) users:

• Payment processor (merchant of record): receives your email and billing information at checkout, and stores your payment method. Our current payment processor is Paddle (subject to Paddle’s privacy policy); historical purchases were processed via Stripe (subject to Stripe’s privacy policy) and those records remain in their system. The merchant of record handles VAT and sales tax collection on our behalf.
• Mailjet (transactional email): sends your license-key email, magic-link sign-in emails, and refund-request emails. Receives your email address and, where relevant, your license key in the email body. Subject to Mailjet’s privacy policy.

Data storage and retention

For all users, AltTab creates no account and sends us no name, email, or anything else that identifies you. Crash reports sent to AppCenter are retained according to Microsoft’s data retention policies.

For AltTab Pro (paid) users, we additionally store the account data described in AltTab Pro accounts. Retention is covered in that section.

Your rights

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data. For free users there is no account and nothing tied to your identity, so there is typically nothing to request.

For AltTab Pro users, email support@alt-tab.app to exercise these rights over your license account. For data our payment processor holds about your purchase (cards, billing address, receipts), contact them directly using the instructions in their privacy policy — see Third-party services for the current processor.

Children’s privacy

AltTab does not knowingly collect any data from children under 16.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. Changes will be posted on the AltTab website.
